Issues to overcome
Schools have found that this approach addresses a range of intervention issues identified by their science department. These issues include:
- significant numbers of pupils not making the expected rates of progress over each key stage
- missing opportunities to identify and address pupils’ skills and barriers to their learning
- having a limited range of intervention support available for pupils who are struggling to make progress in science, or provision that is insufficiently linked to Wave 1 teaching in science lessons.
