Find out how to use this element to improve planning and develop aspects of pedagogy in science over a six-week period.

Using this element

This element is designed to secure improvement over a six-week period. Your department can use it flexibly depending on its key priorities. It is designed to further teachers' knowledge of how children learn science so that teachers can:

  • plan and manage the effective delivery of purposeful and engaging learning opportunities
  • help pupils make appropriate progress through motivating them with science set in contexts that relate to their everyday lives
  • benefit from reflecting on and further developing their knowledge, skills and expertise in science-specific pedagogy, in order to improve young people’s learning experience.

This element provides support for science teachers in developing sequences of learning, focusing on developing a particular aspect of pedagogy in science.
