Assessment commentary

This short piece is an attempt by the pupil to write objectively/biographically about herself. At whole-text level, it establishes a convincing individual perspective and tries to adopt an appropriately objective/formal style, although this is not consistently maintained (AF1/2). Paragraphs clearly structure the main ideas (AF4), although overall, the piece lacks shape/direction (AF3). Some well-controlled complex sentences (AF5), generally accurately punctuated (AF6), contribute to the effectiveness of the piece. A reasonably wide vocabulary (AF7) is used with few spelling errors (AF8).

With the exception of AF3, level 5 criteria are generally fulfilled in this response, and for AFs 1, 2 and 5, some level 6 criteria are also satisfied.
