Issues to overcome
Schools have found that this approach addresses a range of planning issues identified by their mathematics department. These issues include using:
- planning and teaching that takes insufficient account of prior learning
- planning and teaching that is limited to a lesson-by-lesson approach rather than in extended sequences
- units of work that describe activities but are less explicit about planning for progression and the skills pupils need to make expected rates of progress across each key stage.
