This half-term unit follows the Support for Spelling teaching sequence. This unit includes:
- activities and approaches to use during whole-class sessions
- extension activities for children who require extra work
- practice examples of words for children to focus on.
The focus of this unit is to spell unfamiliar words by using what is known of spelling patterns and word families.
This unit aims to encourage children to apply their knowledge of letter patterns and strings to the spelling of words that they have not encountered in print before.
