Research centres are independent organisations under contract to the Department to provide national and international evidence in the following areas: 

  • young people’s transitions through education and wider adolescence into the labour market and adulthood  

  • drivers of behaviour and 'what works' to help people make better choices for themselves

  • children’s wellbeing and life chances –  including safeguarding, families, and the relationship of wellbeing with educational outcomes.
