Increasing the number of customers in an area that take up broadband services can significantly change whether an area is economic for the private sector to invest in or not. Demand is important for BDUK as the larger the number of people likely to take up broadband, potentially the smaller investment BDUK has to make
As part of the work on the pilot projects, BDUK will be bringing together a number of tools to assist consumers register the fact that they can’t get broadband, help communities organise to help solve the broadband issues in their community and to allow community groups to share their experiences and provide advice to each other.
There are a number of websites currently offering services such as these and we will be looking to bring these together rather than developing from scratch ourselves. We will be posting links to these tools on our website over time.
