Ways of working
The majority of our work is carried out in multi-disciplinary teams and our staff sometimes contribute to two or more projects at any one time.
CC members (usually around 50) are appointed, for a fixed period, for their individual experience, ability, and diversity of background. Our members are responsible for working (generally part-time) on our inquiries and they play an active role in inquiry hearings, testing ideas and arguments, and helping to make fair and justifiable judgements based on the facts of the inquiry. Members are not recruited directly, but are appointed after an open competition by our sponsoring body, the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills.
