Thailand: Scorpion upgrade success

We are pleased to announce that the Royal Thai Army has selected a “British package” to upgrade its fleet of 150+ CVR(T)s (Combat Vehicle Reconnaissance Tracked), which mainly consist of Scorpions.

The competition was fierce with a number of overseas companies challenging the UK for the contract. So intense was the competition that the process went through several rebids before a winner was declared.

The contract was agreed on 30th May and ratified on 22nd June. The contract value is approximately £80 million and benefits UK companies such as Selex, Cummins UK and David Brown Gears. The UK would have not secured the contract without the active support of DSO, ably assisted by our Embassy in Bangkok and our own Export Sales Team.

The signed contract.
