Where did quality assurance make no difference?

Child talks with adult

However, for some providers belonging to a quality assurance scheme made little difference. These providers told us they achieved high quality through being:

  • highly motivated and committed to the children
  • involved in a continuous programme of training and staff development
  • well organised in planning the day to meet the needs of every child attending.

Providers said: ‘It didn’t make a lot of difference, we work to high standards anyway. The Investors in Children Award is another feather in our cap but it hasn’t made any difference to our popularity – we already have a two-year waiting list.’ (nursery provider)

‘The Award hasn’t helped us with parents either – though the Ofsted outstanding award definitely did make a difference with parents.’ (nursery provider)
