Welcome to the public web pages of the Government Social Research Service (GSR). GSR exists to:

  • provide government with objective, reliable, relevant and timely social research
  • support the development, implementation, review and evaluation of policy and delivery
  • ensure policy debate is informed by the best research evidence and thinking from the social sciences.

The GSR In-Service Fast Stream scheme is open to existing members of GSR from 28 March  until 4 May 2011. Follow the link below for more details.

Note that this scheme is not open to external applicants. We anticipate the next external Fast Stream scheme will be in 2012 with nominations opening in the autumn of 2011.
