Deferral of inspections: learning and skills providers and colleges
A new common inspection framework for further education and skills was published in July 2009 for inspection from September 2009 onwards. The framework was devised by Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector in line with the Education and Inspection Act 2006. It is based on the common evaluation schedule which informs all of Ofsted’s inspections and it sets out the judgements inspectors will make during inspection. The principles of inspection and regulation reflect Ofsted’s values and ensure that we carry out our statutory duties efficiently and effectively.

This document was updated in August 2010.
The law disqualifies some people from being registered or connected with a childminder or childcare registration, operating, managing or having a financial interest in a children’s home or being registered as a private foster carer. We can in some circumstances consent to waive a disqualification and allow these people to be registered. This leaflet explains how to apply to Ofsted for consent to waive disqualification.
