Including everyone

Some people with learning disabilities miss out more than others. The Valuing People Now says that all people with learning disabilities and their families should benefit from the Strategy. The needs of anyone with learning disability must be part of any plans about them.

Valuing People Now is inclusive of those groups who are least heard and often excluded. This reflects concerns expressed by respondents to the consultation on Valuing People Now that service providers, commissioners and policy makers were not specifically addressing the needs of these groups, including:

  • people from Black and Minority Ethnic Groups and newly arrived communities;
  • people with autistic spectrum conditions; and
  • offender in custody and in the community.
