Launch of the Response to Raising our sights

The Government has published its response today to 'Raising our sights: services for adults with pround intellectual and multiple disabilities', by Professor Jim Mansell (March 2010). Professor Mansell's report responded to concerns raised in the consultation for 'Valuing people now', that needs were not being fully addressed for adults with profound intellectual and multiple disabilities.
The Launch of the Autism Strategy

On 17th December 2010 the Department of Health issued Fulfilling and Rewarding Lives, statutory guidance for health and social care bodies. The purpose of the guidance is to secure the implementation of 'Fulfilling and Rewarding Lives: The strategy for adults with autism in England' by giving guidance
The Launch of the Easy Read Guidance

The Department of Health and Office for Disability Issues published a good practice guidance aimed at people who commission easy read information for people with learning disabilities on 18 November 2010.
The Launch of the Valuing People Now Annual Report

On 8th December 2010, the Minister for Care Services, Paul Burstow launched the Valuing People Now Summary Report at the Learning Disability Today event. This report covers progress made in the first 18 months. It also shows were more work needs to be done.
It focuses on the main priorities of improving outcomes for people with learning disabilities in health, housing, and employment. There is also another publication that shows examples of good practice throughout the country.
The Six Lives Report

On the 14th of October 2010 we published the ‘Six Lives Progress Report’. It says that progress has been made to improve the healthcare for people with learning disabilities, but a lot of work still needs to be done.
It looks at what NHS and social care organisations have done to carry out the recommendations that were made by the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman and Local Government Ombudsman in their ‘Six Lives’ report.
