Health
Healthcare is really important to people with learning disabilities and their families. People with learning disabilities have the right to good quality healthcare that meets their needs.
But we know people with learning disabilities do not always get the healthcare they need. Reports like ‘Death by Indifference’, ‘Healthcare for All’ and ‘Six Lives’ have shown what needs to change.
The Department of Health is working with the NHS to improve healthcare for people with learning disabilities, across all healthcare settings.
The White Paper Equity and Excellence: Liberating the NHS was published in July 2010. It sets out the vision and proposed new structure for the NHS. The consultation closes on 5th October.
