Governance and Leadership

Valuing People Now recognises that for positive changes to be made we need to all work together. Valuing People Now Team has been working at national, regional and local levels to ensure that people with learning disabilities get the same opportunities as everyone and that they are treated fairly.

Office of the National Director

At the national level, the Office of the National Director leads the delivery of Valuing People Now. The National Director and Co-National Director, Anne Williams and Scott Watkin lead a team of people who are responsible for all the national work strands, including publications, communications and business planning.

The National Learning Disability Programme Board

This National Board oversees the cross-government delivery of Valuing People Now. It brings together key government departments and partners like the National Forum for People with Learning Difficulties, National Valuing Families Forum, Mencap to ensure continued cross government implementation of valuing people now. The National Programme Board was set up in 2008 to make sure that Valuing People Now happens. Paul Burstow, Minister for Care Services and David Behan, Director General for Social Care in the Department of Health chairs this Programme Board.

The Board meets several times a year to discuss how Valuing People Now is going and to solve any problems. We will keep you updated about the Programme Board and its work around Valuing People Now.
