Publication of Safety Critical Information and other Communications

With effect from 1 January 2011, the CAA changed the way in which it communicates its safety related and other information to industry.  The new style of CAA communications introduces a three-tiered approach for different levels of communications; Safety DirectivesSafety Notices and Information Notices.

Up until 1 January 2011 CAA information has been communicated via a number of different formats and newsletters, such as FODCOMs, ATSINs, AIRCOMs, NATMAC Informatives, NOTALs, NOTEX and TrainingComms.  With the introduction of the new style communications these will no longer be issued, but historical documents may still be viewed via the publications search engine.

An advance Information Notice has been issued to all recipients of CAA Communications.  In addition, an introductory presentation has been delivered to various industry groups from which a number of Frequently Asked Questions have been recorded.

Subscribers to the ‘Safety Critical Information’ category will receive all Safety Directives. All Safety Notices and Information Notices will be notified through two new subscription categories, ‘Safety Notices’ and ‘Information Notices’. Subscribers will be required to update their subscription categories if they require notification of publication of all Safety Notices and Information Notices.

Subscribers wishing to receive notification of publication of Safety Directives, Safety Notices and Information Notices which are only applicable to their current subscription categories (e.g. Flight Operations, Aerodromes etc.) are not required to update their subscription as applicable communications will continue to be sent.
