Madeleine Hogan from Australia competes in her first Paralympic Games at Beijing in 2008. She throws the Javelin in the woman's Javelin event, and would go on to win the bronze medal.

Sixty years earlier at the London 1948 Olympic Games, Gunnar Petterson of Sweden throws the Javelin in one of the qualifying rounds of the Javelin event. This took place at Wembley Stadium, which was then the venue for Athletics events. 

Gunnar Petersson - Javelin

During the London 2012 Games, Javelin will be one of the 16 field events held in the Olympic Stadium, falling into the throwing events category. Field events at the Games start with a qualification stage, with the best athletes qualifying for the final.
