DSA published the outcomes of two pieces of research into independent driving.

Delegated examiner research
The objective of this study was to test the hypothesis that drivers passing the passenger carrying vehicles (PCV) test under delegated arrangements have an equivalent safety record following commencement of professional driving as those passing the PCV practical tst with a DSA examiner.
