Consultation, the involvement of the people in the Government's work, is now an integral part of the policy-making process in the UK.

Consultation enables the Government to be more open and its policies more effective by inviting and taking note of the views of relevant industries and other involved organisations and the public.

In line with Government policy the CAA consults on matters that include changes to legislation, the issue of new policy documents and Regulatory Impact Assessments (RIAs).

Consultation period open for comment by industry and the public. These consultations are currently open for comment by industry, the public and other interested parties. Consultations usually have a 12 week commenting period after which time all comments are collated, considered and a response document published. View open consultations. Having considered all submitted comments the CAA has now been able to publish its conclusions and the consultation is awaiting publication of the new legislation, policy or other document. Letters of Intent.
Occasionally the CAA needs to make some changes to publications where the full consultation process is not considered necessary. Notification of such changes are made through the medium of a Letter of Intent followed by publication of the relevant amendment.
