Repaying student loans

If you've taken out a student loan, how you repay it depends on when you started your course.

If your course started after 1998

If you took out a student loan for a course that started in or after September 1998, your repayments are based on how much you earn.

To find out more, see 'Repaying student loans (courses starting from 1998)'.

If your course started before 1998

If you took out a student loan before September 1998, you repay it by making monthly instalments.

To find out more, see 'Repaying student loans (courses starting before 1998)'.
