The government is committed to improving the transparency of public information.

This commitment includes publishing details of the staffing structure of the Home Office, its agencies and public bodies, and the salary (or remuneration) details of senior civil and public servants.

Structure and salary details

Detailed staff structures, and reports on the pay of the senior staff for the Home Office and its agencies, are linked to below. 

Explanatory notes for remuneration reports

The following staff are included:

  • staff on outward loan or secondment if their salary continues to be paid in full by the Home Office
  • staff on paid leave, including sickness absence, maternity, paternity or adoption leave

The following staff are excluded:

  • non-executive directors
  • all staff whose salary is being recharged in full to another organisation.

Explanatory notes for organograms

The focus of the organograms and datasets is on posts rather than people in the Home Office.

The following posts are included:

  • those occupied by permanent staff
  • those occupied by fixed term appointees
  • all posts occupied by a member of staff loaned or seconded in to the Home Office (regardless of funding arrangement)
  • any vacant posts  

The following are excluded:

  • exclusions on security grounds
  • staff on career break or unpaid leave
  • staff on loan or secondment out of the Home Office (regardless of funding arrangement)
