Lighthouse Photography Competition

Their stunning coastal locations and the romanticism that surrounds them make lighthouses a popular subject for photographers of all ages and abilities. Trinity House is owns some of the most famous lighthouses in the world.

Every year Trinity House runs a photographic competition in order to select images for the ‘Lighthouses’ calendar, produced in association with leading calendar producer J Salmon Ltd.

Hurst Point by R Palmer Wilson

In previous years the competition has brought in excellent entries ensuring that the judging panel, which has been chaired by Alan Titchmarsh, Griff Rhys Jones, Tony Robinson, Libby Purves and Dan Snow had their work cut out in deciding the best shot. The 2012 competition panel will be chaired by comedian Rory McGrath with the resulting calendar available to purchase on this site in late 2011.

The overall winner will receive a short stay in one of the beautiful lighthouse holiday cottages let in conjunction with Rural Retreats.
