ACT ON CO2 Calculate your carbon footprint and get hints on reducing your energy bills

23 June 10 - Following a consultation between DECC and the Approval Body we have made revisions to the application prices originally published in February 2009. The following are the most significant revisions to the pricing:

  • The charges for large and medium companies remain the same.
  • A fee discount of 50% towards initial applications and renewals has been offered to the  small and micro businesses.
  • An introduction of two additional categories of sub-micro and charities. These have a 80% and 85% reductions respectively to the original fee.
  • No minimum fee on the non-standard emission factors – fee will be determined on a case by case basis.

20 October 09 - Minutes of the second meeting of the Advisory Forum on the Quality Assurance Scheme for Carbon Offsetting  - 23 September 2009 

16 September 09 - The website URL for the UK Government's QAS has changed to http://www.decc.gov.uk/offsetting. The Scheme's requirements document has been updated to reflect this and other changes such as the new Defra's corporate reporting guidelines emission factors also incorporated.

15 May 09 - Announcement of Membership of Quality Assurance Scheme Advisory Forum (previously referred to as the Industry Panel)

The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) called on 17 April for stakeholders to express their interest in becoming a member of the Quality Assurance Scheme (QAS) Advisory Forum, which will advise on the implementation and operation of the Government's Quality Assurance Scheme for Carbon Offsetting.

Following careful consideration of applications,  DECC has selected the following members to join the Forum.

  1. Carbon Footprint - Rebecca Honey/John Buckley

  2. Clear - Bruce Elliott

  3. Pure, the Clean Planet Trust - Robert Rabinowitz

  4. Cleaner Climate Ltd - Benjamin Muir

  5. Greenstone Carbon Management  - Hugo Seymour

  6. White & Case LLP - Tallat Hussain

  7. United Kingdom Accreditation Services - Malcolm Hynd

  8. Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) - Nick Blyth

  9. Environment Agency - Rob Gemmill

  10. The National Energy Foundation - Ian Byrne

The initial meeting of the Forum will be on 8 June 2009.

All applicants have been informed of the outcome of their applications.

17 Apr 09 - Call for expressions of interest to join the Advisory Forum (previously referred to as the Industry Panel)

The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) is calling for stakeholders to express their interest in becoming a member of the Quality Assurance Scheme (QAS) Advisory Forum, which will advise on the implementation and operation of the Government’s Quality Assurance Scheme for Carbon Offsetting.
