The legal framework, rights and responsibilities

This section of the RE guidance looks at the legal basis of RE in the curriculum of maintained schools. It provides information on the roles and responsibilities of local authorities (LAs), standing advisory councils on religious education (SACREs), agreed syllabus conferences (ASCs) and governors and headteachers. It also looks at the RE curriculum in different types of school and at the rights of parents and pupils.
