Information on who's who in the Department at Board level and about individual Directorates, including Schools Directorate, is available on the DCSF website. The IMS and School Census activities are part of the New Relationship with Schools Data Sub Programme.
The online publications service for schools (formerly the School Mailing Service and before that, EASEA) provides fast access to DCSF publications including Spectrum and Management Essentials.
A-Z of school leadership and management outlines the law and best practice on a range of school-management issues. It can be searched by topic.
The Department's Implementation Review Unit (IRU) is an independent scrutiny unit with a remit to cut red tape and reduce bureaucracy in schools. Its members are serving headteachers, senior teachers and a school bursar.
The 'Data Collections' section of this site provides information on the School Census and the Pupil Level and School Level Annual School Censuses, (PLASC and SLASC), and also detailed guidance on the 2006 School Census.
The Schools Data Portal provides a single point of access to a number of useful services including: school to school (s2s); the Key To Success website (KTS); the Pupil Achievement Tracker (PAT); Performance Tables Checking; and the Foundation Stage eProfile. It is being developed to extend this facility.
Becta's site for school leaders provides information for senior managers in schools to help lead and manage the school more effectively by examples of best practice and guidance.

The Sector Skills Council for IT provides a range of advice through its Contact Us website, covering the skills framework for the information age needed to develop effective information systems using ICT.
The Department's Value for money site offers good practice guides for head teachers on different areas of school management. School financial records will be available for comparison.
The New Relationship with Schools (NRwS) Data Sub Programme (DSP) is delivered by staff of the Department and by secondees from LAs and consultants who provide specialist input. It is responsible for the Information Management in Schools (IMS) work. It can be contacted through the email@example.com or by phone on 020-7925-3779.
