Welcome to the January 2011 issue

Inside View

Since the last edition of Ofsted News in October 2010, Ofsted has published its annual report.

This was delivered to parliament on 23 November. I am required by statute to do this annually and it is through the Annual Report that we summarise Ofsted’s inspection findings from the most recent year; in this case, September 2009 to August 2010. I hope you will read it, or at least dip into it, as it contains so much that is important to a variety of sectors and makes a significant contribution to the national debate on raising standards and improving lives. The evidence is drawn from almost 32,000 inspection and regulation visits in the year, leading to findings that have an authoritative weight of evidence behind them. This issue of Ofsted News focuses on the findings of the Annual Report, and there is a link to the full report and the highlights in the relevant articles.
