Summer Student Placements

The GES run summer student placement schemes aimed at economics students who are seriously considering a career in the Government Economic Service (GES) after graduation. The placements generally last between 6 and 12 weeks and take place over the summer period.

Summer 2012 Scheme Timetable

The GES Summer Student Scheme 2012 is likely to open for applications in December 2011/January 2012. Please check the website for updates nearer the time.


Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible applicants must be studying for a degree in economics or a joint degree where economics comprises at least 50% of the total course. They must also be on course for a 2:1 or 1st class degree. More information on the eligibility criteria and completing the application form can be found in our Application Process and Guidance.

Interviews

Candidates who are successful at the sift stage will be invited for interview at one of the participating Departments. Sample interview questions are provided on the Interview Examples page.
