Japan crisis 'worst since WWII'

Japan is experiencing its greatest hardships since World War II, Prime Minister Naoto Kan says, as the country battles the aftermath of the earthquake and tsunami and a growing crisis at a nuclear plant.


  1. 1211: The Wall Street Journal's Daisuke Wakabayashi in Tokyo tweets: "After waiting for eight hours, we were just told that they are done for the night. No more gasoline. Sigh. The silver lining - and it's thin - is that we were told they're getting more tomorrow and we got some priority ticket that means no lining up. I'll believe it when I see. That was crushing - sad to see there are hundreds of cars still in line right now."
