Marcus Yeo - Managing Director
The main responsibilities of the post are
to:
- Chair the Executive Management Board and provide leadership to
the JNCC Support Company.
- Maintain overall responsibility for business management and
company performance, and manage major risks.
- Act as Analogous Accounting Officer for JNCC.
- Work with the Chair and Committee Members to develop and renew
the Committee's strategic direction, statements and plans, and
ensure that these are translated into JNCC’s corporate and business
plans.
- Provide advice and guidance to the Chairman and Committee
Members across the whole range of Committee business.
- Develop and maintain sound and effective relationships at a
senior level with key stakeholders, including the country
conservation bodies, Defra and other Whitehall departments,
devolved administrations, other statutory bodies, and
non-governmental organisations.
John Goold - Marine Director
The main responsibilities of the post are
to:
- t
o serve as a member of JNCC's Executive Management Board to
ensure the provision of effective leadership for Company staff and
the implementation of JNCC's strategy, to agree resource
allocations to programmes in the context of JNCC's Corporate Plan,
to approve policies and procedures, to oversee staffing issues,
including Health & Safety, to manage corporate risks and also a
programme of progressive change;
- to advise the Joint Committee on the strategic direction of
JNCC's marine work, and answer to the Committee for the effective
discharge of JNCC's marine work programme;
- to chair JNCC's marine governance group to ensure the effective
discharge of marine work programmes and the efficient use of
resources, and to ensure the overall coherence in JNCC's marine
work;
- to act as line manager of the Heads of the Management Advice,
Marine Protected Area, Marine Habita ts and Seabirds and Cetaceans
Teams, and to provide leadership, motivation and support to team
managers in the conduct of their work programmes;
- to represent JNCC externally at a senior level and build
effective relationships with key stakeholders (including country
conservation bodies, UK Government departments and devolved
administrations, non-governmental organisations and others)
- to deputise for another Director or the Managing Director if
required.
Sue McQueen – Director of Corporate Services

The main responsibilities of the post are
to:
- Serve as a member of the Executive Management Board and provide
leadership to the JNCC Support Company.
- Ensure effective development and delivery of JNCC’s work
programmes, and manage corporate risks, in particular those
for:
- corporate governance;
- communications and;
- support services (Finance, Personnel, IT and office
services).
- Maintain and develop systems of control, including policies and
procedures, for the areas set out above.
- Support the MD and Chairman in managing and developing the
Committee and company Board, including acting as company
secretary.
- Provision of advice to the MD, Chair and Committee on corporate
strategy.
- Represent JNCC externally at a senior level with key
stakeholders (including country conservation bodies, UK Government
departments and devolved administrations, non-governmental
organisations and others).
Paul Rose – Director of Evidence & Advice
The main responsibilities of the post are
to:
- Serve as a member of the Executive Management
Board and fulfill associated corporate governance and risk
management duties.
- Support and provide leadership to the five
JNCC science programmes and ensure that their work is effectively
planned and communicated to corporate planning deadlines.
- Oversee and advise on the allocation of staff
and financial resources for JNCC’s science work
- Give strategic direction to new and emerging
science issues for JNCC including the International science policy
interface.
- Support and provide strategic advice to the
MD and Committee on science issues.
- Represent JNCC externally at a senior level
with key stakeholders (including through serving on the country
conservation agencies Chief Scientists Group).
