  • Between 1992 and 2009-10, the percentage of people with a high level of worry about burglary fell from 19 per cent to 10 per cent. In 2009-10, 13 per cent had a high level of worry about physical attack, down from 25 per cent in 1998, whilst 10 per cent had a high level of worry about car crime – down from 22 per cent in 1998.

  • In 2009-10, an estimated 10 per cent of both men and women had a high level of worry about car crime.  Eight per cent of men had a high level of worry about burglary, whilst seven per cent had a high level of worry about physical attack.  These figures were higher for women, with 12 per cent having a high level of worry about burglary and 18 per cent having a high level of worry about physical attack.
