Reducing the harm caused to communities and individuals – a new partnership for Gloucestershire

Crowds at the races in CheltenhamGloucestershire Criminal Justice Board has now merged with the Gloucestershire Safer Stronger Communities Partnership to form the Gloucestershire Stronger Safer Justice Commission.

The SSJ Commission’s vision is to build a strong, safe and just
Gloucestershire where citizens and communities are safe from harm caused by the behaviour of others. We will be working in partnership with each other, local people and communities to Barton Street Fairkeep people safe by providing a coordinated approach to managing threat, harm and risk.

We will:
• Build stronger, resilient and cohesive communities that can help themselves
• Prevent and reduce re-offending
• Tackle the causes and enablers of harmful behaviour: e.g combating substance misuse, including alcohol misuse
• Tackle concern about crime and raise public confidence in local communities, the voluntary sector and the statutory public agencies to deal with it.
Tewkesbury Town Centre• Improve the effectiveness of our Criminal Justice Service in Gloucestershire
• Raise public confidence in the statutory and voluntary agencies who support victims of crime, and manage offenders

The following organisations are represented on the SSJ Commission:

Gloucestershire Probation Trust, Gloucestershire Constabulary, Local Authorities, Gloucestershire Voluntary Assembly, NHS Gloucestershire, 2gether Trust, Youth Offending Service, HM Prison Gloucester, Legal Services Commission, HM Courts Service, Crown Prosecution Service, Community Safety Partnerships and Gloucestershire Police Authority.
