Ofsted’s 2009/10 review of the framework for children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities
The Government has asked Ofsted to undertake a review of special educational needs and/or disabilities provision and outcomes, which will be published during summer 2010. Ofsted will analyse the strengths and weaknesses of the current framework. It will consider the processes for assessing the needs of individual children and young people, the type and quality of provision provided, and the evidence of the outcomes for the children and young people who use children’s services. There will be a particular focus on the Every Child Matters outcomes achieved by children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities.
The published report will provide recommendations for improvements in provision to promote the best outcomes for children and young people. It will feature case studies of good practice, including examples of children’s services which have had a positive impact on the outcomes for children and young people.
