The factual background briefing provides general information about the UK electoral system, parliamentary elections and the 2010 election.

The returning officers' charges order specifies the amounts available to returning officers in each constituency for parliamentary elections in Great Britain. Guidance notes explain how the figures were arrived at and how returning officers can claim expenses at the election. Accounts regulations specify the time, form and manner in which they must submit their accounts.
