On 14 December 2006, the Government published a consultation paper to seek views on changes to the freedom of information fees regulations.  The consultation period concluded on 21 June 2007, following the publication of a supplementary paper. The responses were published on 25 October 2007.

The Government received over 300 responses to the consultations and the majority of respondents opposed the proposed changes to the fees regulations. The Government has given careful consideration to the responses received and has decided not to proceed with the draft regulations on fees.
