The government consulted on proposals to reform the way costs from Central Funds are awarded in the defence of privately funded defendants acquitted in criminal cases in England and Wales.
This report contains the government's response and describes the proposed scheme in more detail, including how the consultation has influenced the conclusions on proposals such as disallowing costs in certain cases, and capping costs to legal aid rates.
