This guidance should be read by anyone who is thinking of asking a county court, a District Registry of the High Court or the Principal Registry of the Family Division in London to make an adoption order where: the child, before he or she was brought into the UK, was habitually resident outside the British Islands; the child to be adopted continues to have his or her habitual residence outside the British Islands; or the prospective adopters have their habitual residence outside the British Islands.
