Redevelopment of Merthyr Tyfdil Combined Court Centre

The offices at Merthyr Tydfil Crown, County and Magistrates’ Court have been closed since August 2007 to allow for substantial building works to be carried out.   The works are continuing and it’s expected the contractors will hand over the building on 5th September. Normal business will resume at Merthyr Tydfil Combined Courts on a date to be confirmed, early October is likely.

County Court

Correspondence should continue to be addressed to Merthyr Tydfil County Court, The Law Courts, Glebeland Place, Merthyr Tydfil, CF47 8BH. DX number 99582 Merthyr Tydfil 2.  All mail will be redirected.

Merthyr Tydfil County Court can be contacted by telephone on either 01443 490808 or 01685 358200.  The Fax number 01685 359727 remains unchanged.

All hearings will take place at Pontypridd County Court, The Courthouse, Courthouse Street, Pontypridd, CF37 1JR

Counter queries will be dealt with at Pontypridd County Court by Merthyr Tydfil County Court staff.

Crown Court

All Crown Court work will be dealt with from Cardiff Crown Court at the following address;

Listing for county court cases will commence at Merthyr later in the year and listing for magistrates’ court cases will be announced. Until then;

Paying your fine online

In a number of areas it is now possible to pay your court fine online with a debit or credit card using our secure service on the Directgov website. You can also make maintenance payments and pay costs, compensation and confiscation orders that have been awarded against you. This new service  is available 24/7 and will allow payments to be made at your convenience.

There will be a phased rollout to all areas over the coming months ensuring that this quick, convenient and secure payment channel is available nationally throughout England and Wales. Your local court will know if the service is live in your area and will be sending how to pay information confirming this.

New children's application forms

The following forms were implemented on 8th December 2008, at the same time as the implementation of the remaining contact provisions of Part 1 of the Children and Adoption Act.  All applications made on 8 December, or thereafter, must be made using the following forms.

The Children Act 1989 forms are:
C1 - Application for an order (amended)
C100 -  Application under Children Act 1989 for an order under section 8 of the Children Act 1989
CB1 - Making an application - Children and Family Courts (Guidance notes)
CB3 - Serving Forms - Children Act 1989 (Guidance notes)

The Children and Adoption Act 2006 forms are:
C78 - Application to add a warning notice to an existing contact order
C79 - Application related to enforcement of a contact order
CB5 - Applications related to enforcement of contact

The forms are available on this site or are available in hard copy from family courts.
