Population Trends

Population Trends is the Office for National Statistics' demographic journal publishing official statistics and in-depth analysis on a range of population topics, particularly fertility, families, migration (internal and international), ageing and mortality.

Population Trends is a peer-reviewed quarterly publication that covers life events from birth to death and those in between, analysing data from a variety of sources including vital registration records, censuses and surveys. The dynamics of population change are examined, not only in terms of fertility, mortality, family units, marriage, divorce, mobility and survival. Account is taken of key determining factors such as sex, location, employment and ethnicity. Articles are submitted by academics, researchers, central and local government staff, and others with an interest in contemporary demography.
