Statistics on the natural environment (air, water, soil, wildlife, natural resources and waste) are provided by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) and the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC). Statistics on rural areas, outputs & inputs of agriculture & the food industry (including the environmental consequences) and on animal and plant health are provided by Defra.

The Marine and Fisheries Agency (MFA) provides statistical information about the UK Fishing Industry while statistics on UK forestry and primary wood processing are published by the Forestry Commission (FC).

Statistics relating to sustainable development and food consumption are not included here, but can be found in the People and Places theme.
