Key implications
Executive summary
Main report

The European Refugee Fund phase II (ERF II) is a fund established by the European Union to support efforts made by Member States to support the integration of refugees. The UK Border Agency (UKBA) administers this fund in the UK and uses it to fund a variety of projects across the UK. The 2006 evaluation assesses the relevance, efficiency and effectiveness of the 6 projects that received 2006 funding (operational year 2007). The starting point of this assessment was a documentary review of relevant submissions from projects to UKBA. Qualitative research methods were also employed and a total of 88 interviews were carried out with project staff and beneficiaries. Overall the projects were found to be doing well and a number of innovative approaches and example of good practise were identified. The purpose of ERF funding is to support the integration of refugees and the findings suggest that the projects are contributing well to this aim.
