Building Britain’s digital future

The Digital Britain report published last June set out two mechanisms which aim to strengthen and modernise the country’s communications infrastructure:

A Universal Service Commitment of 2Mbps for all by 2012, but in no way considered superfast broadband
The ‘final third’ project – next generation broadband to 90% of homes and businesses by 2017.

Ofcom releases maps of 3G coverage

Ofcom have released maps showing 3G coverage across the country for the Vodafone, Orange, O2, T-Mobile and 3 mobile networks. The maps show that while mobile network coverage in the UK is generally good, some problems persist, particularly in rural areas.
