A consultation on increases to fees for the Lands Tribunal (the Lands Chamber of the Upper Tribunal).

The Lands Tribunal in England and Wales was established in 1949 to resolve certain disputes concerning land. Its functions were transferred to the Lands Chamber of the Upper Tribunal in June 2009.

The government proposes to increase the level of fee income to recover 50% of the tribunal's running costs. The consultation outlines proposed changes to fees, and gives an option for an alternative basis for calculating some fees.

Response

A total of 14 responses to the consultation paper were received. Seven responses were from members of professional bodies and five from public bodies; the Law Society and the Bar Council also responded.

After careful consideration of the comments from respondents, the Government has decided to proceed with the increases proposed in the consultation, subject to some adjustments to address particular concerns raised.

The report summarises the responses and sets out the Government's conclusions.
