Parents looking at the school league tables published today will be able to access information about how schools spend their money. They will also be able to see how they perform in providing a rounded academic education for children.

The new data comes as part of the Department for Education's contribution to the government’s commitment on transparency, openness and accountability.
Also included is information on how many GCSE pupils meet the new 'English Baccalaureate' requirements: achieving grades A*-C in five core subjects. The core subjects counted in the English Baccalaureate are maths, English, two science qualifications, a foreign language and either history or geography.

Thanks to the new information, parents will for the first time be able to find out whether the school down the road is doing twice as well with less money. Schools will also be able compare how they are spending their money compared to other schools.
