IMB Prisons Conferences

Annual Conference 2010

In September 2010, IMB Members from the prison estate attended their annual conference which was held at the Hinckley Island Hotel in Leicestershire. 

Approximately 300 delegates attended the event which included keynote speakers such as Crispin Blunt MP the Parliamentary Under- Secretary of State for Justice and Frances Flaxington, Deputy Director of Women's Policy and Ministry of Justice Voluntary Sector Teams.

It provided an important opportunity for IMB members to meet and exchange good practice and learn of developments in the Criminal Justice System from key practitioners.

Annual conference 2009

The Annual Conference 2009 was held at Keele University, Staffordshire, from 17th - 19th September. Over 300 delegates attended the conference to listen to and share ideas around the theme of 'Perceptions'. This event was hosted by Richard Brown and Mike Davis from the IMB National Council.

 

 

Keele conference

Conference Speakers:

  • Claire Ward MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Justice (until May 2010)
  • Dr Peter Selby, President of the IMB National Council
  • The Baroness Stern, who a speech entitled "Politics and Prisons: The role of IMBs in a time of cuts".
  • Peter Fewell, ex-offender and successful author, gave a presentation called 'Respect'.
  • Paul Tidball, President of Prison Governors Association, delivered a presentation "The Quality Visit".
  • Tim Robertson, Chief Executive, Koestler Trust presented some of the excellent artwork created by prisoners.
