On the 2nd of October under the watchful eye of Harlequins Academy guru Jim Evans and Stoop favourite George Robson, SGOSS in conjunction with the Harlequins Community Team hosted the 4th Annual SGOSS Under 13 Cup.
The event is run as part of a long standing relationship between SGOSS and Harlequins RUFC who share our mission to recruit skilled volunteers to serve on and add value too governing bodies across England.
The competition has continued to grow year on year and 2010 was no exception with reigning three time winners Effingham & Leatherhead RUFC being pushed further than ever before by such challengers as 3 times West Sussex County Rugby Champions Pulborough RUFC and the eventual losing finalists Havant RUFC.
The tournament, which culminated in a veritable feast of attacking rugby worthy of the bright lights of the Aviva Premiership itself contained standout performances from Effingham & Leatherhead RUFC’s number 13 and Pulborough RUFC’s number 9 who dazzled the on looking crowds with some scintillating steps and picture perfect passing.
The event, hailed as success by all presented the children with the opportunity to showcase their talents in the magnificent and awe inspiring surroundings of The Twickenham Stoop just hours before Harlequins RUFC took on Newcastle RUFC. As well as giving them the chance to seek advice from one of England’s brightest Second Row talents, George Robson it helped SGOSS to raise awareness of the need for School Governors all across England.
