Prizes are on the menu for winning Hospitality and Catering students

 

 

High-achieving OCVC Hospitality and Catering students and tutors have started the year with a series of impressive performances in regional and national competitions.

Level 2 and 3 Chef Diploma students competing in the North Warwickshire and Hinckley College’s ‘Salon Culinaire’ proudly brought home an array of awards.  Led by Course Leader Caroline Dunning, the students received four gold awards, one silver, one bronze and one certificate of merit.


George lands dream job teaching ‘soccer’ in the States

 

 

George Taylor has landed his dream job in the USA, having completed a two year BTEC National Diploma in Sport & Exercise Science with OCVC’s Football Development Centre. 18 year-old George, who is from Oxford, was one of just forty coaches to be selected from an initial 2,500 applicants.  Thanks to OCVC’s links with American UK Elite (a large coaching company on the East Coast of America), George has been offered an initial three month contract which calls for him to coach young players across New York, Maryland, Philadelphia and Washington.


Oxford Playhouse launches new Young Company with OCVC

 

 

Oxford Playhouse’s Learning Department is launching a new Young Company in partnership with OCVC, aimed at young people aged between 12 and 15.  Sessions will be held at the Top Floor Theatre at OCVC every Thursday from 5 to 7pm, starting on Thursday 10th February and finishing on Thursday 7th April (excluding Thursday 24th February). The eight-week series of workshops will focus on learning drama skills, creating work and discovering talents. There are no auditions, but members must be enthusiastic and committed.
