DC Training and Development Services is a provider of accredited training solutions to a wide range of employer clients, from sole traders to large multinationals.
Having taken part in the testing phase, and as a small training provider, DC Training saw the Training Quality Standard as a valuable quality mark that could help gain it a competitive advantage.
DC Training were “surprisingly pleased at the robustness of the process and the challenge certification posed”. The application was put together by the Managing Director and Operations Director who found it was something that could only be undertaken by those with first-hand knowledge of the company and its customer base. In all, 11 out of their 13 staff were involved in putting the application together.
After initially feeling slightly daunted about the process, DC Training found the Training Quality Standard assessors involved to be both very supportive and challenging in their approach, guiding them through the process, which ensured that the evidence provided was “realistic, valid and credible”.
Overall, DC Training have found their involvement with the Standard has brought many benefits including being more able to concentrate their development activities in order to better meet customer demands and promote the attributes that they excel at, to both existing and future customers.
The Training Quality Standard brings with it the recognition of DC Training’s approach to employers, recognition from peers of DC Training’s success and capabilities and national recognition as an employer training provider.
Since receiving Training Quality Standard certification, DC Training have actively been involved in promoting the Standard but recognise that it is “very hard work, not an easy process to meet and certainly not one that can be hoodwinked or achieved by smoke and mirrors”.
Paul Brackenbury, Operations Director at DC Training and Development Services, on achieving the Standard said:
“There is a real need for providers to be honest, realistic and competent at employer engagement and to be meeting their expectations to a very high level”.
