School travel
Promoting safe and healthy journeys to school which in turn, can also help to reduce the use of the car and impact of the 'school run'.
A school travel advisers toolkit has been jointly produce by DfT and DfES to help develop a strategic approach to school travel issues. It promotes the use of walking, cycling and public transport to reduce car dependency for journeys to school. An Evaluation of the 'Travelling to School Initiative' Programme
This is the report of the final evaluation of the joint DfE/DfT Travelling to School Initiative that was launched in 2003, with the aim of reducing car use for the journey to school and allowing more children to take regular exercise.
