Code of Practice for Scientific Advisory Committees

Open date: 17 Sep 2010

Closing date: 10 Dec 2010

Published by the Government Office for Science, the Code of Practice for Scientific Advisory Committees sets out good practice in relation to the function and working of Scientific Advisory Committees (SACs).

The Code of Practice was last revised in 2007. This updating follows the publication of the Government's Principles on Scientific Advice to Government (Annex 2) and of the Government Chief Scientific Adviser’s Guidelines on the use of Scientific and Engineering Advice in Policy Making. It allows for the Code to be revised to reflect these alongside developments on good practice for Scientific Advisory Committees.

All Scientific Advisory Committees – whether or not formal Non Departmental Public Bodies – are covered by this guidance.
